Todd Smith

VP Engineering

Roles & Responsibilities:

My main role is developing the higher-level internal processes for our company and the systems needed to implement them, including CRM and software development. I also oversee all of the web development with our team of engineers and take care of our IT department (you could say I am the go to “the internet isn’t working” guy).

Key Accomplishments:

iCareSafely was a project where we needed to integrate an e-learning management system into the company’s marketing site. I custom-built the functionality required for it and had tremendous success for the client.

I also programmed an animated diver for the Canfest’s 2013 website using Javascript. This project turned out really cool. The website featured a diver swimming around while you scrolled up and down the page. When the page was stationary, the diver would simply appear as if he were floating on the screen—it was a blast to work on!

At OCG, most proud of:

We have such a collaborative and creative environment here. Our in-house development team gives us an edge that other agencies don’t have. It’s because of this that we have the capability to tackle any project, whether basic web design or full-on web application development. We’re quite literally a one-stop shop.

Describe favorite client:

To me, a good client has a solid vision of the services and products they’re offering. They know their audience and are willing to work closely to collaborate on the projects they’ve hired us for.

Describe the “agency of the future”:

An agency of the future isn’t afraid of change. It’s a group of people that will embrace and incorporate new technologies and new approaches that provide solutions for our clients, whether they are readily available or we have to build them ourselves.

I have 25 years of experience in computer programming, that means I can write in anything from Assembly, all the way to C++ and Java.

Other Interests:

I enjoy music and the outdoors. I play drums in the band, Alias Smith, with my wife on lead vocals.

Education & Certification:

Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Nevada, Reno.
